Hello! This is the second e-newsletter for Together at a Distance: The Pan-Arctic E-Learning Project. Check out our first e-newsletter if you would like to know more about the beginnings of the project. If you'd like to be removed from our contact list just drop us a line through the Contact us link.

The first two workshops; What is E-Learning? and How to take an E-course are now available for viewing on the NDLP site. Many thanks to those of you who participated in our recent User Interface Evaluation workshops in Iqaluit. Your thoughtful comments and survey responses will help us to improve and refine these workshops and to develop the remaining ones. The next workshop to be developed will be How to teach an e-course.

Participants seemed to particularly like the activity in the first module of How to take an e-course which has the learner creating a personal learning plan. They thought it would be helpful for the learners with whom they work- so you might like to take a look at that using the NDLP linkif you have not already.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Elizabeth Childs to the Together at a Distance team as the researcher for the project. Elizabeth has had considerable international experience and will be developing a research framework and data collection instruments in the early months of 2009. Focus group data will be collected when we pilot the workshops. Pilots will take place from September-November of 2009 in Nunavut and in January-February of 2010 in other pan-Arctic locations. If you are interested in hosting a pilot session please let us know, we are focussing on adult learners and especially on literacy programs and related endeavours. We can help with Internet connections and computers for pilot sessions.

Finally, do please contact us with your questions or comments and thanks to those who have taken the time to do so already.

Compliments of the season and all best wishes for a peaceful New Year from the Together at a Distance team!

Chris
